This is for all you people out there that think your child is invincible and doesn’t need a “life”. I am so sick of hearing people say things like “my child cant be around that”, “omg that’s not healthy”, “we dont take our child out of the house”. WTF? are you kidding me. I totally understand that yes, you as well as myself doesn’t like to see a child, let alone your own sick. but there’s a point to where they need to be exposed to the outside world, enabling them to grow and obtain a immune system. It’s ridiculous, yes your child may have never been sick, but what do you expect when you keep them housed, wrapped, locked up for years. Of course. Well here’s a little article i found on the net. Its from 2006 but proves a VERY good point. And for you parents out there that flip out at your child being sick, or fear of them becoming ill….Look what the further more serious effects could lead to. So put that in your juice box and drink it! ha!

Rise in Crohn’s disease blamed on cleanliness:

Parents obsessed with cleanliness might be responsible for a big increase in Crohn’s disease in children.
It is a debilitating condition that usually affects adults, but recently, the number of children getting Crohn’s has doubled.
Experts believe children are being exposed to fewer germs these days and their immune systems are weaker as a result.

Alex Herschell has had the inflammatory bowel condition, known as Crohn’s disease since she was 13.
With so many children now getting the illness, she’s started a teenage support group.
“So many more kids are getting Crohn’s and it’s being diagnosed more and more often so more kids are saying we need help, we need support,” she said.
The number of children with Crohn’s has doubled in the last five years with more pre-teens diagnosed than ever before.
The exact reasons remain a mystery. But doctors believe society’s obession with cleanliness may be to blame.
“We think if you have had infections and parasite infection in early life that protects you by stimulating the immune system,” Professor Terry Bolin, from the Gut Foundation, says.
While there’s no cure for Crohn’s disease, newer treatments that target the immune system are improving patients quality of life.
Roman Tobias has been on a new medication called Infliximab.
“It’s given me a will to live. It’s improved every aspect of my life,” he said.
“For people with severe Crohn’s disease it can offer great treatment when other medications have failed,” Dr Katie Ellard, gastroenterologist, said.
The newer drugs are not subsidised and can cost patients more than thirty thousand dollars for the three-monthly treatment.
