Well its been a while since we had a song of the week! Has to be a pretty good song to make the cut around here! This weeks choice is by this years American Idol Winner David Cook. I told my husband from the beginning I thought David was going to win and I’m so glad I was right! He has an amazing voice and seems to be an amazing individual.

Congratulations to David Cook the 2008 American Idol!!!! I was so happy that he won personally. I will buy his record when it comes out! I was a little surprised just b/c I thought the teeny bopper vote was going to push David Archuletta over the edge to win…BUT David Cook won by 12 million votes!!! YAY!!!!

I know he’s going to do great!

It was announced Thursday that Shania Twain and husband of 14 years Robert “Mutt” Lange have called it quits.  Lange stated that the split is unfortunate and the two have been growing apart.  A source close to Twain states that she is devastated and was not expecting it.  Trouble was reported a few years back and Twain all but disappeared from the public eye and the couple worked through their problems…for the time being.  They have a 6 year old son Eja togther.
–Awe…this is sad.  This was actually a long marriage.  How unfortunate for them. 

Ellen DeGeneres has announced that she plans to wed girlfriend Portia de Rossi.  They began dating in 2004.  DeGeneres who just celebrated her 50th birthday announced the wedding plans on her show with 35 year old de Rossi in the audience.  The state of California just struck down a law that would ban same sex marriages.  –Way to go girls.  More power to ya.  Good luck!!

Rapper T.I. and his girlfriend Tameka “Tiny” Cottle have welcomed their second child together, a boy today.  Major Harris was 5lbs 15oz.  He is the 5th child for T.I. 
–awe.  Babies are always fun to announce!

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz celebrated the end of his singledom with a bachelor party in LA with ten of his friends including his future father-in-law Joe Simspon.  Pete and Ashlee Simpson are set to marry this weekend.
–Looks like they’re really doin it people!  We’ll see how long it lasts!!!

Grey’s Anatomy actress Brooke Smith added to her family this week by adopting a baby girl from Ethiopia.  She is the 2nd daughter for 40 year old Smith who also has a daughter, Fanny, with her husband Stephen Lubensky.  Although her first child is natural born they’ve been considering adoption since a visit to Africa last year. 
–YAY!!!  There are so many kids out there that need good homes.  I’m always to hear about stories of adoption.

American Idol winner Taylor Hicks will make a debut on Broadway June 6th.  He plans to perform in Grease.  He’s following in the footsteps of Fantasia and Clay Aiken. 
–Dang.  This is sad.  I liked Taylor.  Usually when the Idols head to Broadway it means their music career is pretty much in the toilet!

Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson have called it quits…AGAIN.  The on again, off again couple break up report comes after several circulating reports of an engagement in the works.  The pair began dating in September of 06 directly after Kate Hudsons split from her husband.
–OK big surprise right? I mean really. 

Britney Spears and Mel Gibson are headed to Costa Rica for vacation.  The unlikely pair will spend a week there with the singers father and Gibsons Wife. 
–UM OK…can you say WEIRD?

American Idol is now down to two contestants! Its going to be a battle of David A VS. David C! I for one am hoping that David Cook wins. But even if he doesn’t I know that he’ll get a record deal. If David A wins I just can’t see him being very successful. And it’ll be another idol winner that you never really hear from except when they perform on next seasons Idol.

The performances this week were suprisingly uneventful. Now one really had a “WOW” factor. They were predictible and just average. You would expect at this stage in the competition for things to really heat up!

The results show last night showed more of the home town visits. It was nice to see the contestants welcomed home by their home towns but did we really need to see David Archuleta and Syesha Mercado cry the entire time? OMG. Thats like all they did!

Fantasia Also performed. What in the heck happened to her hair? It sounded like she was screaming the entire time. The look on Simons face was priceless!!! Its hard to believe she won American Idol. She’s really not that good.

David Archuleta’s fater was banned from going back stage for the rest of the competition. Apparently he was being a bit of a “stage father.” haha. Sounds like them psycho stage moms at beauty pagents!

On to the season finale next week! Who will win? Lets hear your predictions!

Ok I dont know who out there is following idol but OMG if you watched last night you have to be as disappointed as I was.  David Cook wasnt even himself.  I think as of right now he is the best singer by a mile that is left in the competition. 

I know that many like David Archuleta but I personally think he’s a little one dimensional and I would not buy his record.

And Jason Castro?  Was he really serious last night?  It almost seems like he wanted to go home BUT he is the vote for the worst candidate right now so he will probably be safe for another week. 

Syesha Mercado was better than she usually is but I really think she is more suitable for Broadway.  And with the way the voting is going she is probably going to be sent packing tonight.  Maybe she can catch a greyhound that way.

So I was very disappointed in last nights show…There were no “Molten Hot Lava Bombs” thrown and no standing O’s by Randy but at least Paula remembered what performance each contestant was on! 

Cant wait to see the results tonight!  My guess is Syesha is leavin on a jet plane but I could be wrong!
