Today is Memorial Day. It is a day to not only honor those that have passed but also reflect on your time that you had with them.

As I sit here I’m reminded of all the times I shared with my mom and I know that she is in a better place now. The selfish side of me wishes she were still here in body but I know that she is here in spirit and she never leaves my side.

My best friend received a phone call this morning that her step father had passed away. My heart is breaking for her and I wish there was something I could say or do…but I know from experience that no words can console your heart when someone close to you passes. Hopefully her just knowing that I’m here for her eases her pain in some way.

Please take today to honor those that have passed and honor those close to you that are still around. Never take one single moment with your loved ones for granted because you never know when that might be your last with them. Life is too short.

Well they did it! Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were married this past Saturday in an intimate ceremony at her parents home. They were married in an evening ceremony among family and close friends. Simpson wore an ivory lace wedding gown as she and Wentz exchanged vows in front of 150 guests. The brides father, Joe Simpson, performed the ceremony. Jessica brought boyfriend Tony Romo to the wedding despite recent break up rumors. This is the first marriage for both and pregnancy rumors are still circulating.
–Ok. Lets see how long it lasts. I hope for their sake its forever. Too many hollywood marriages end in divorce these days. And she’s awfully young to be getting married!

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren have gotten married! The parents to be exchanged vows at the Beverly Hills courthouse on Monday in casual clothing. They are expecting their first child, a girl, this summer. Sources say that Alba looked happy but nervous during the ceremony that had no other guests in attendance.
–Ok i would be nervous too if i were having a shotgun wedding. I hate it that she didnt get to have a real wedding!!! Maybe someday after the baby is born she will!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who are expecting twins in August, were spotted baby shopping in Cannes. They bought only white for their new additions. An employee at the store did ask the expectant mom what she was having and she replied that they didnt know nor did they want to.
–Give it up already!!! Just tell us what you’re having!

Kristi Yamaguchi and dance partner Mark Ballas were crowned the Dancing with the Stars Champions last night. Yamaguchi is the first woman to win in 5 seasons of the show.
–Congrats to Kristi…however with her figure skating background I do believe that she had a bit of an unfair advantage on the other contestants!

Heidi Montag and boyfriend Spencer Pratt, both of The Hills, were spotted in color-coordinating baseball outfits at a Los Angeles Dodgers game. Neither seemed to invested in the game, rather in having their pictures taken. During the 7th inning both stood up to pose for pictures.
–OMG, get over yourselves!!! First off Heidi is a retard. She gave up a great job for her loser boyfriend who’s just that…A LOSER.

It was announced Thursday that Shania Twain and husband of 14 years Robert “Mutt” Lange have called it quits.  Lange stated that the split is unfortunate and the two have been growing apart.  A source close to Twain states that she is devastated and was not expecting it.  Trouble was reported a few years back and Twain all but disappeared from the public eye and the couple worked through their problems…for the time being.  They have a 6 year old son Eja togther.
–Awe…this is sad.  This was actually a long marriage.  How unfortunate for them. 

Ellen DeGeneres has announced that she plans to wed girlfriend Portia de Rossi.  They began dating in 2004.  DeGeneres who just celebrated her 50th birthday announced the wedding plans on her show with 35 year old de Rossi in the audience.  The state of California just struck down a law that would ban same sex marriages.  –Way to go girls.  More power to ya.  Good luck!!

Rapper T.I. and his girlfriend Tameka “Tiny” Cottle have welcomed their second child together, a boy today.  Major Harris was 5lbs 15oz.  He is the 5th child for T.I.

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz celebrated the end of his singledom with a bachelor party in LA with ten of his friends including his future father-in-law Joe Simspon.  Pete and Ashlee Simpson are set to marry this weekend.
–Looks like they’re really doin it people!  We’ll see how long it lasts!!!

Grey’s Anatomy actress Brooke Smith added to her family this week by adopting a baby girl from Ethiopia.  She is the 2nd daughter for 40 year old Smith who also has a daughter, Fanny, with her husband Stephen Lubensky.  Although her first child is natural born they’ve been considering adoption since a visit to Africa last year. 
–YAY!!!  There are so many kids out there that need good homes.  I’m always to hear about stories of adoption.

American Idol winner Taylor Hicks will make a debut on Broadway June 6th.  He plans to perform in Grease.  He’s following in the footsteps of Fantasia and Clay Aiken. 
–Dang.  This is sad.  I liked Taylor.  Usually when the Idols head to Broadway it means their music career is pretty much in the toilet!

Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson have called it quits…AGAIN.  The on again, off again couple break up report comes after several circulating reports of an engagement in the works.  The pair began dating in September of 06 directly after Kate Hudsons split from her husband.
–OK big surprise right? I mean really. 

Britney Spears and Mel Gibson are headed to Costa Rica for vacation.  The unlikely pair will spend a week there with the singers father and Gibsons Wife.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt confirmed they are having twins! The babies are due Aug 19th. Jolie said that she couldn’t be happier and she loves being pregnant. She and Pitt have decided not to disclose the sex of the babies at this time.
–While children are great, they are going to end up like the family in Arkansas! The twins will make 6. At least they have the money for it I guess and it seems unlike most celebrities they do hands on stuff with their kids instead of hiring a team of nannies to do it all.

Whitney Thompson was crowned the new Americas Next Top Model Last night. The 20 year old is considered a plus size model even tho she is a size 8-10. Thompson, a student from Atlantic Beach, FL was always made fun of and called fat by her peers said that she’s already receiving fan mail from fans on facebook.
–Way to go Whitney. I was excited to see a girl with a little bit of curves not only go far in the competition but win! AWESOME! However if she is plus sized I’d hate to see what I’m considered at a size 11/12. HA!

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar announced this morning that they are expecting their 18th child New Years day 2009. Yes…I did say 18th!!! OMG.

Becomming a mother recently myself I know the birth of a child is a joyous experience…BUT 18??? Are you nuts?

This woman has been pregnant 11 full years of her 41 year life. Her oldest is 20 and the youngest is just 9 months old.

I have watched many a special on the Discovery Channel surrounding the Tontitown, Arkansas family and I must say while their number of children is impressive when do you say enough is enough?

I understand wanting to have a big family but isnt the world already over populated enough as it is?

So, obviously at my recent WIC experiece, I entailed tons of different circumstances. You have your single mother, pregnant mother, family of 1,2,3,4, and on! I also noticed a lot of children, specially one particular family. To there the children were dressed terribly and could have make a mud pie on their skin! The truth is..and makes me wonder.. are these kids being taken care of to the parents greatest ability. My outlook is no, not at all. It doesnt’ take a genious to teach, love, or even BATHE a child!

Don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with WIC. It is there to help mothers, children, and their families, but i think there should be somewhat of a limit. It’s like every mother/father in there has 4-5 children. Im sorry but my opinion, dont keep reproducing if you cant afford it. I’m not saying this to be rude, hateful, or malicious, but seriously people come on. If you can’t wash your children and keep them clean, let alone yourself! You have no business raising children!

Yes there are people that have children just for the money, WIC, Food Stamps, tax refund, etc. Personally i think that’s ridiculous! Get a job! Go make some money, dont make your kids suffer from YOUR laziness. YOU are the parents.

I also noticed a lot of the parents constantly yelling at their children. It makes me wonder if my child will be that way. Lately, ive seen numerous children disobey their parent repetitively and not get punished. Is it that hard to take control of the situation and act upon it accordingly?! Obviously every child is going to disobey throughout their lifetime. It just seems to me lately you see more and more children being “naughty” or “bad” in public while the parents threaten to spank, ground, or punish them. Still, the parent does nothing! Therefore the child knows, he/she runs the show! They are the boss.

Truthfully, its make me nervous about where our society is headed today. It seems like the people that have a job, but yet still can’t afford or need that little boost of help, get pushed aside. Yet we have these families/people with no jobs, no money, and are on WIC, Welfare, Food stamps, etc. Are you kidding me? Half of these people are qualified to have a job/career, yet are too lazy to do so? But they are having children and raising a family? Dont get me wrong WIC, Welfare, etc is there to help and is a wonderful attribute to us as parents. Sometimes i just believe people take way too much use of it, and it ends up helping the wrong people. Maybe the standards should be set higher? Using a  different outlook besides income.  But last i checked i wasn’t the Government! haha.

So i guess my message is this.

1. Clean your children
2. Get a job
3. Wash your own body
4. Get a job
5. Punish your child accordingly, dont let him rule you
6. GET A JOB
