Mommy Blog: Life of a working mother

Posted by nickiv21 on Tuesday, 26 August, 2008 @ 5:31 am

Well most households these days are two income. If you are a SAHM consider yourself one of the lucky and the few. With the rising costs of fuel, and everyday means to get by its very hard in this day and age to have one parent that stays home.

I have a friend going thru the dilema of wanting to stay home but not wanting to have to struggle to make ends meet as many one working parent homes do. Yes it is better for your kids if you are the one that is taking care of them all day. That goes without saying. No one is going to take care of your babies the way that you do. But you also want to have the means to provide for them and not be living off of state assistance or be struggling in any way.

Is there really an answer to this problem? The horror stories you hear about daycares only makes this more of an upfront problem. Just in the past two weeks two private home daycares have been shut down due to neglegance. You hear these stories and you ask yourself is my baby really safe? Makes you want to send one of them little nanny cams with him/her everyday.

I for one am a working mother. While sometimes I think it might be nice to stay at home, other times I really think I’d go insane. I LOVE MY BABY. That goes without saying. I love him to pieces but I also enjoy my time away from him. I like going to work and having that adult interaction. Does that make me a bad mother? Is it wrong that I like going to work? The sad thing is you consider work your “me” time. When really its just another headache that you have to deal with throughout the day and just someone else demanding all of your time and attention.

For those of you out there that are SAHM I do envy you. I envy you for being able to do it. I know I couldn’t. I dont know how my mom did it. I know she worked for a lot of years but when I was growing up she ran a licensed daycare out of our home and was always there to take care of me too. Looking back she seems like SUPERMOM! I’ve always said if I am half the mother my mom was then I am doing a good job. Sometimes it feels like I’m never going to get there!

So I guess the question is…What is right? I don’t think anyone can really give that answer. The experts will tell you if you can stay at home for your kids that is what is best for them and SAHM’s will argue that its the only way to do things; whereas working mothers will tell you their way is right. Its one of those grey areas that I think whatever works best for you and your family is what is right in that instance!

It’s a new day!!! YAY!!!

Posted by nickiv21 on Wednesday, 20 August, 2008 @ 7:16 am

Well yesterday was a eventful day all in itself! I learned a lot about myself and others and the ideas I had of what others should be.

But its a new day. The past is in the past and on to the future. Going forward I will not surround myself with anyone that causes drama or thinks they are superior to me. I have learned that usually those that are younger have a lot to learn and have to do that before they can lead a rich and fulfilling life. Im not saying I am perfect. I am far from that, but I also know what I was like 9 years ago and to see someone even worse than that scares the hell out of me. I do not know how a person gets filled with such hate and discontent. What has happened to them that has caused that? All I can really do is feel pity for them and hope they are able to one day see all the blessings they truly do have and enjoy life. Life is what you make it. And if you make it a 3 ring circus you have no one to blame but yourself.

In closing the website is going to change a bit. My hubby (ADMIN) tells me that mommy blogs are quite popular so I’m thinking I’m going to get the girls together and maybe we can each try to post a mommy blog every couple days. I am also going to get back to my In The News! SO much has happened in la la land since I last did one of those!

Much Love to All.

When you realize you’ve had enough…

Posted by nickiv21 on Tuesday, 19 August, 2008 @ 10:53 am

So many times in life you put so much effort into something and you never can really tell when enough is enough. Well today I have finally realized I HAVE HAD ENOUGH.

I’ve had enough of the bitching and moaning and the never being happy for anyone, yet blaming that on me saying I am that way when I am sooooooo not. Im a very greatful person that is happy for others when they are able to succeed and get the things in life that they want.

I’ve had enough of the smart ass attitude that has to come back at everything I say with a negative comment. I’ve had enough of the sneers. I’ve had enough of the talking behind peoples back then kissing their ass to their face the next day.

So pretty much, I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!!! And while I didn’t mention names I’m sure you will be able to associate yourself with this and idtentify with it since you know that you are all of these things. I am too old for shit like this in my life. I am happy and do not need misreable people such as yourself bringing me down. I have terrific people in my life that do not bring the negativity, gossip and drama that you do and I would much rather spend my time with those that are happy and not those that their main goal in life is to try to make others lives look worse than their own b/c they are so unhappy. It is truly those types of people that will wake up one day and have nothing and be totally alone.

Song of the Week!

Posted by nickiv21 on Wednesday, 13 August, 2008 @ 6:24 am

This weeks song of the week is a favorite of my 2 and 1/2 year old niece Jersee! Its Pocket Full of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield. Here you go Jersee, shake yo tail feather! YAY!

Pocket Full of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield

OOOOh yea yea yea

I got a pocket,
Got a pocket full of sunshine
I got a love and I know that its all mine
Oh, woah

Do what you want,
But your never gonna break me,
Sticks and stone are never gonna shake me
no,oh

I got a pocket,
Got a pocket full of sunshine
I got a love and I know that its all mine
oh, woah

Wish that you could but you aint gonna own me
Do anything but you want
you cant slow me down
no,

Take me away (take me away)
A secret place (a secret place)
A sweet escape (a sweet escape)
Take me away (take me away)
Take me away (take me away)
To better days (to better days)
Take me away (take me away)
A higher place (a higher place)

I got a pocket,
Got a pocket full of sunshine
I got a love and I know that its all mine
Oh, (got a pocket, got a pocket, got a pocket full of sunshine) oh (and I know that it’s all mine)

Do what you want,
But you never gonna break me,
Sticks and stone are never gonna shake me
no, (never gonna shake me) oh (never gonna shake me)

Take me away (take me away)
A secret place (a secret place)
A sweet escape (a sweet escape)
Take me away (take me away)
Take me away (take me away
To better days (to better days)
Take me away (take me away)
A higher place (a hegher place)

There’s a place that I go
That nobody knows
Where the rivers flow
And I call it home
And theres no more lies
And the darkness is light
And nobody cries
Theres only butterflies

Take me away (take me away)
A secret place (a secret place)
A sweet escape (a sweet escape)
Take me away (take me away)
Take me away (take me away
To better days (to better days)
Take me away (take me away)
A higher place (a hiding place)
(2 times)

The sun is on my side
It takes me for a ride
I smile up to the sky
I know I’ll be alright

The sun is on my side
It takes me for a ride
I smile up to the sky
I know I’ll be alright

Song of the Week!

Posted by nickiv21 on Friday, 1 August, 2008 @ 11:15 am

I chose this weeks song just b/c I was sitting at work listening to it and thought it had a good message! Sorry the site has been lacking in content lately…Been busy with life!

So Small: Carrie Underwood

What you got if you ain’t got love
the kind that you just want to give away
It’s okay to open up
go ahead and let the light shine through
I know it’s hard on a rainy day
you want to shut the world out and just be left alone
But don’t run out on your faith

[Chorus]
‘Cause sometimes that mountain you’ve been climbing is just a grain of sand
What you’ve been up there searching for
forever is in your hands
When you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else
seem so small

[Verse 2]
It’s so easy to get lost inside
a problem that seems so big at the time
it’s like a river thats so wide
it swallows you whole
While you sit around thinking about what you can’t change
and worrying about all the wrong things
time’s flying by
moving so fast
you better make it count ’cause you can’t get it back

[Chorus]
Sometimes that mountain you’ve been climbing is just a grain of sand
What you’ve been up there searching for
forever is in your hands
When you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else
Seem so small

Sometimes that mountain you’ve been climbing is just a grain of sand
What you’ve been up there searching for
forever is in your hands
When you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else
Oh it sure makes everything else
Seem so small

Yeah, Yeah

Song of the Week!

Posted by nickiv21 on Wednesday, 16 July, 2008 @ 7:37 am

The song of the week this week is an oldie but a goodie. This song is from my middle school days so we know its really old! Im sure a lot of you have probably never even heard it! “Unconditional Love” By High Five was one of my favorite songs back in the 90’s. How many of us can actually say we have that from family and friends? Not many! Someone is always tryin to change you! Hope you enjoy this weeks pick!!!

Unconditional Love–High Five

I will climb the highest peak
Swim the deepest sea
I will cross the desert land
I would do anything for your love, yeah
{Unconditional love}

Oh…oh…oh…
I need unconditional love

Baby, once is not enough (No)
I can’t live without your love (Oh, yeah)
Between the heavens up above
(Conditional) Conditional love

Some people say that I’m just an old fashioned guy
But I believe in love and all that it means
I can never say no to anything that you ask
And I really hope that you would do the same for me, yeah, yeah, yeah
How far will you go

It’s about trust and honesty
And that’s the way it’s supposed to be
Unconditional love (How far will you go, girl)
It’s about time (Time) and sacrifice (Sacrifice)
We pay the price (Do or die), it’s do or die
Unconditional love (Unconditional love)

I don’t know what to do, girl, I’m head over heels in love with you
And I need to know what it means to you, oh…oh…
With all this madness goin’ ’round I really think it’s time that we settle down
Be my only girl and I’ll be your only man, tell me, girl

It’s about trust and honesty
And that’s the way it’s supposed to be
Unconditional love (Tell me how far will you go, girl)
It’s about time (Time) and sacrifice (Sacrifice)
We pay the price (Do or die), it’s do or die
Unconditional love (I need an unconditional love, I will be there for you, baby)

It’s about trust and honesty
And that’s the way it’s supposed to be
Unconditional love (Unconditional, girl, I’ll be right there for you)
It’s about time (Time) and sacrifice (Sacrifice)
We pay the price (Do or die), it’s do or die
Unconditional love (I need an unconditional love, how far will you go)

I will climb the highest peak
Swim the deepest sea
I will cross the desert land
I would do anything for your love, yeah
(Would you do the same for me)

It’s about trust
{Girl, now more than ever}
{It’s important for couples to stay together}
{You know, with all this madness goin’ around}
{You don’t know what’s gonna happen}

It’s about time
{You see, baby, you need somebody in your corner}
{A man that’s gonna stand by you when times get tough}
{And no matter what happens I’ll be there for you}
{Can you say the same}

Baby, once is not enough (No)
I can’t live without your love (Live without your love)
Between the heavens up above (Heavens up above)
Conditional love (Oh…yeah)

Baby, once is not enough (Once is not enough)
I can’t live without your love (Live without your love, baby)
Between the heavens up above (Yeah…)
Conditional love

It’s about trust (Trust) and honesty (Honesty)
And that’s the way (You and me) it’s supposed to be (Baby)
Unconditional love (Unconditional love, girl)
It’s about time (Oh) and sacrifice
We pay the price (Yeah…), it’s do or die
Unconditional love (Unconditional love, my-my-my-my-my-my baby)

It’s about trust (Trust) and honesty (Honesty)
And that’s the way (That’s the way) it’s supposed to be (Hey)
Unconditional love (Unconditional love, my-my-my-my-my-my-my-my-my baby)
It’s about time (Time) and sacrifice (Sacrifice)
We pay the price (Do or die), it’s do or die
Unconditional love
